PSO Algorithm Optimized Variable Structure Anti-saturation PI Controller for Brushless DC Motor

Due to the existence of the amplitude limiter, traditional speed regulator suffers from integral saturation problems, leading to the increase of speed overshoot and the deterioration of dynamic performance of the BLDCM drive system. In this paper, a novel variable structure anti-saturation PI controller is proposed for the speed control loop of the BLDCM drive system, stability analysis is performed using Lyapunov’s theorem. However, the variable structure anti-saturation PI control algorithm still has problem of difficult parameter tuning optimization that need to be addressed urgently. Thus, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is introduced to quickly optimize the proposed controller parameters. Simulation results show that the parameters optimization of the variable structure anti-saturation PI controller based on the PSO algorithm perform well, the parameter tuning process is simplified and the dynamical performs is well improved.
