Design and Construction Methodology for State-of-the Art Monopile Foundation
摘要
Developing countries around the world are currently undergoing large-scale infrastructure advancement, which is vital in their economic ascent and providing necessary services to its residents. For developing countries, the need of the hour is to build sustainable and resilient infrastructure, where monopile can be an alternative solution for deep foundations. Additionally, cycle time of monopile construction is drastically lesser compared to conventional foundation system. Typically, deep foundations are used for large-scale infrastructure projects such as bridges, high-rise buildings, and nuclear reactors. In such a scenario, monopile foundations can prove to be a gamechanger. Since developing nations have started to adopt such solutions, there is not sufficient literature based on monopile design methodology. The design of monopile foundation focuses on the lateral stability along with the vertical capacity of the drilled shaft. The authors discuss the elements involved in detailed design as well as construction methodology of the state-of-the-art monopile foundation systems. This is one of its kind works will be useful to engineers for design of offshore and bridge foundations in future.
