A Journey of Rediscovery
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of Indigenous approaches to the consideration of future generations across the globe that should be foundational for Future Generations Policy approaches. The chapter surveys related concepts of stewardship from different cultures that care for people and planet over time. The experience of First NationsFirst Nations Australians and the relational ethics involved in caring for Country inspire a complete rethinking of governance systems. First Nations communities maintaining CountryCountry and global Indigenous movements advancing intergenerational justice offer living models for transformation and living proof that human societies can govern for the future. We argue effective long-term governance is already being practised by those we must learn to follow.
