Marine Polysaccharides in Wound Healing
摘要
Marine polysaccharides, particularly alginate and chitosan, have gained importance attention in biomedical field due to properties like biocompatibility, biodegradability, and inherent biological properties. Among their diverse uses, wound healing represents a critical field where these materials demonstrate remarkable efficacy. Wound dressings of different types are made using these polysaccharides, such as films, sponges, and hydrogels, by the application they are intended to be used. This chapter reviews the structural characteristics of alginate and chitosan, their role in wound healing, different forms and modifications of alginate and chitosan-based materials as wound dressings, and their application in clinical studies.
