As leading democracies in Asia, both nations recognize the importance of leveraging STI for economic advancement, inclusive development, regional stability, and climate resilience. The establishment of the India-Japan Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Forum in 2023 by Keio University of Japan and Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru of India marked a significant milestone in this partnership. The forum aims to foster innovation ecosystems, enhance maritime security cooperation, and expand multilateral engagements. Inclusive, adaptable, and ethically grounded frameworks connecting strategic ambition with tangible social impact would address the challenges such as institutional inertia, cultural differences, and structural barriers in academic and industrial collaboration.
