This conclusion provides a recapitulation of the chapters of this book on biodegradable 3D printing, based on the three sections of Introduction, Materials and Methods, and Applications. It then highlights several aspects that have been pointed out by different chapters, including common findings regarding the materials used, suggested applications, biodegradability, and challenges to the proposed methods. Several chapters raised questions regarding issues such as the materials’ biodegradation, design of geometry and toolpaths for a continuous deposition, concerns regarding collapse of uncured extrudates, shrinkage and deformations, viability of bioprinting, and applicability and commercialization. This conclusion then points out some of the important areas for future development that are deemed of relevance to advance the field of 3D printing with biodegradable materials.

摘要
