The tourism industry is increasingly influenced by various forms of innovation, which play a pivotal role in shaping tourists’ destination choices in the era of sustainable development. This study explores the impact of technological, service, and experiential innovations on the decision-making processes of tourists when selecting destinations. By integrating a comprehensive literature review with empirical data collected through surveys and case studies, this research identifies key innovation-driven factors that enhance destination appeal. Technological innovations such as mobile applications, artificial intelligence (AI), and augmented reality (AR) improve accessibility and personalization influence tourists’ preferences. Besides, service innovations, viz., personalized concierge services and sustainable tourism practices, enhance satisfaction and loyalty. The study also examines current trends in smart tourism, highlighting the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics in creating interconnected and responsive tourism environments. Case studies of innovative destinations, for instance, Singapore, Barcelona, and Dubai, illustrate the successful implementation of these innovations and their effects on attracting and retaining tourists. Findings suggest the necessary of continuous innovation for sustainable tourism development and competitive advantage. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of tourism innovation and provides actionable insights for industry practitioners to optimize destination appeal through innovative practices.
