The Use of Virtual Reality to Support Environmentally Conscious Aircraft Maintenance
摘要
This work addresses the application of virtual reality (VR) for green aircraft maintenance training for the enhancement of environmental awareness and operational sustainability. We take on a multi-method approach, with system design, simulation, and case studies from three organizations that have had training programs historically. Assessment consisted of interviews, observation, and environmental performance indicators. Data indicate some 30–35% reductions in waste and energy use, and much higher environmental awareness. Results support VR training as a scalable way to support sustainability in aviation maintenance and bring training practices into line with the international climate goals.
