Impact of Slope Angle Variation on Vulnerability of Structures in Hilly Terrain: A Comprehensive Analysis with Soil–Structure Interaction
摘要
Structures situated on inclined terrain face heightened seismic vulnerability due to irregularities in both plan and elevation. Traditionally, seismic analyses often overlook the crucial aspect of soil–structure interaction (SSI), particularly for structures on sloping ground. However, such an approach is deemed impractical. This current investigation delves into the impact of varying slope angles on structures positioned on sloping ground, taking into account both fixed and flexible bases. Various parametric studies such as, effect of base shear on time period, displacement, acceleration using equivalent static force method (ESFM), response spectrum method (RSM) are performed and results are presented. The findings underscore the significance of slope angle variations, shedding light on the critical implications, with and without SSI consideration. The study also emphasizes the importance of incorporating SSI in seismic analyses for a comprehensive understanding of structural behavior.
