This contribution examines the place and roles of the BRICs+ group of nations operating as a transnational network in a context of shifting international norms and practices. It examines the evolutionary growth of the bloc, its current membership and governance, and it general policies and practices, and in some cases lack thereof. Its main focus is on the role of the bloc in the changing contours of international finance, with particular reference to the New Development Bank, its impetus for moving away from dollar denominated cross-border transactions and the starts and stops in developing a new reserve currency. A case study on planetary health highlights both the commonalities and differences among member states, and the chapter concludes with reflections on the extent to which the BRICs+ group acts collectively or its members, in particular China and India, operate individually.

摘要
