Government Regulations and Policies to Support Circular Economy Initiatives from Strategies for the Transition of 3G to Advanced Bioethanol Production
摘要
With the National Bio Energy Policy of 2018 and the EBP’s goal of 20% ethanol blending in gasoline by 2025, India has made great progress in promoting bioethanol. Although the current framework supports the manufacture of 1G and 2G bioethanol, there are significant regulatory and implementation obstacles to the shift to advanced bioethanol made from algae, industrial waste gases, and synthetic biology. Important measures include establishing sustainable certification, encouraging cross-sectoral coordination, and providing incentives for innovation. Furthermore, the implementation of market-based tools such as bioenergy credits and tradable RECs can reward low-carbon fuel producers and draw in private investment. As a pillar of its circular and low-carbon economy, India can propel the development of advanced bioethanol by filling in these regulatory gaps and enacting laws that encourage it.
