Reuniting City and River: Elizabeth Quay and Perth’s Civic Reawakening
摘要
Elizabeth Quay, a project that aims to reconnect a city with its natural and cultural edge, is a significant urban recalibration for Perth (Cooper 2015). Despite the Swan River’s ecological and aesthetic significance in the city’s geography, central Perth was oddly distant from it for a large portion of the twentieth century. This disparity in space and perception was not accidental; rather, it was the result of several planning choices, the predominance of infrastructure, and a built form that prioritized transportation and efficiency over public interaction with the water’s edge.
