Civic Thresholds: Festival Plaza and the Reimagining of Adelaide’s Cultural Core
摘要
One of Adelaide’s most important locations in terms of both symbolism and space is Festival Plaza. The plaza serves as an essential link in the civic center of the city, sandwiched between the cultural splendour of North Terrace and the meandering margin of the River Torrens. Its location, right next to Parliament House, the Adelaide Railway Station, the Adelaide Festival Centre, and the Riverbank, places it at the intersection of formality and spontaneity, tradition and modern life, and institution and public (Llewellyn-Smith 2012).
