Complications of Medical Modalities of Vitiligo Therapy
摘要
A plethora of drugs that target disease processes at various stages are used in the therapy of vitiligo with the aims of achieving arrest of disease progression and inducing repigmentation of existing lesions. The management of vitiligo requires long-term treatment with immunosuppressive and immunomodulatory agents, which could result in adverse effects. Routine monitoring is required to detect such adverse effects earlier and avoid any serious complications. We discuss frequent as well as uncommon side effects associated with various topical and oral agents and lasers, and light-based therapies employed in vitiligo treatment.
