Laser and Other Light-Based Therapies
摘要
This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the various phototherapy modalities used in treating vitiligo, including narrowband UVB (NB-UVB), excimer light, excimer laser, and psoralen plus UVA (PUVA). Phototherapy remains a cornerstone in vitiligo management, with each modality offering unique benefits and mechanisms to induce repigmentation. NB-UVB is highlighted for its efficacy and safety, serving as the first-line treatment for generalized vitiligo. Excimer laser and light, characterized by high irradiance, offer targeted treatments that show rapid and significant repigmentation, particularly in localized vitiligo. PUVA, while effective, is less favored due to its higher risk profile. The chapter also discusses factors influencing phototherapy protocols, the importance of combination therapies, and the need for personalized treatment plans. Emphasis is placed on the ongoing refinement of these therapies through relevant translational studies, aiming to enhance clinical outcomes and patient quality of life.
