Small-Scale Fisheries in Small Reservoirs Towards Sustainable Fishery
摘要
Culture-based fisheries (CBF) is a predominant and reliable approach for the management of small reservoirs fisheries in India. Small reservoirs are mostly managed with the involvement of local fishing community. CBF is closely linked with small-scale fisheries (SSF) and plays a vital role in sustaining rural livelihoods, ensuring food security, and maintaining ecological balance. The adoption of CBF in small reservoirs has led to significant increases in fish yields in many small reservoirs across the country. With the involvement of fishing community participation, CBF promotes social and economic development, fish production enhancement, and biodiversity conservation. As a result, CBF serves as a sustainable fisheries management strategy that supports the livelihood of rural communities while maintaining ecological integrity.
