Harnessing Potential Benefits of Plant Molecular Farming for the Challenging Production of Next-Generation Vaccines

Throughout the annals of history, botanical entities have played an integral role in combating a plethora of diseases. While synthetic treatments have been efficacious in addressing the escalating prevalence of acute and chronic afflictions, the attendant adverse effects pose significant risks, particularly among the elderly. In stark contrast, natural plant-based remedies have evinced efficacy in disease management with negligible or no adverse effects. The advent of plant molecular farming has presented a robust solution to confront these global health challenges. Nevertheless, this approach is not devoid of significant challenges. This chapter endeavours to underscore the potential advantages of cultivating next-generation vaccines through plant molecular farming, providing salient insights into the attendant challenges and benefits. Addressing these impediments and leveraging the advantages of plant-based molecular farming holds the promise of propelling the research community into uncharted territories.
