Bimatoprost is a synthetic prostamide F2α analogue, differing from latanoprost in having a double bond, instead of the single bond, at the carbon 13–14 positions, and is primarily used for the treatment of glaucoma. Bimatoprost is utilised by dermatologists for the treatment of eyelash/eyebrow alopecia, androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata and vitiligo. Besides, bimatoprost is approved by the FDA for the treatment of eyelash hypotrichosis.
