Dupilumab is a fully human monoclonal IgG4 antibody that has been approved by the US FDA for the treatment of atopic dermatitis and prurigo nodularis. Of late, dupilumab’s efficacy has been demonstrated in a number of dermatologic conditions that include chronic hand eczema, allergic contact dermatitis, alopecia areata, chronic urticaria, bullous pemphigoid, pemphigoid gestationis, Brunsting-Perry pemphigoid, epidermolysis bullosa pruriginosa, Grover’s disease, Hailey-Hailey disease, pemphigus vulgaris, lichen planus, lichen planus pemphigoides, Kimura’s disease, chronic pruritus, chronic actinic dermatitis, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, Wells’ syndrome, keloids, hypertrophic scars, granuloma annulare, reactive perforating collagenosis, lichen amyloidosis, eosinophilic annular erythema, Netherton’s syndrome, papuloerythroderma of Ofuji, hidradenitis suppurativa, hyper-IgE syndrome, neurofibromatosis, IPEX syndrome, palmoplantar pustulosis, hypereosinophilic syndrome, lamellar ichthyosis, graft versus host disease, food allergy and trichothiodystrophy. Besides, dupilumab has been found to be safe, with minimal immunosuppression when compared to other biologic drugs.
