Griseofulvin is a heterocyclic benzofuran systemic antifungal drug with wide applications in dermatology. Although primarily used for cutaneous dermatophytosis, including onychomycosis, the use of griseofulvin in dermatology has extended to include diseases like molluscum contagiosum, lichen planus, Well’s syndrome, Raynaud’s phenomenon and pigmented purpuric dermatoses. However, with the advent of newer antifungal drugs, the availability of griseofulvin in the Indian market has reduced considerably.
