Azole Antifungals
摘要
Azole antifungals include itraconazole, fluconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole and posaconazole. Of the above drugs, itraconazole and fluconazole are widely employed for dermatologic use for the treatment of dermatophytosis, pityriasis versicolor and onychomycosis. Ketoconazole, although an effective drug, has now been taken off from the European and Australian market due to the risk of severe hepatic side effects. In the USA and Canada, ketoconazole is available with strict restrictions. In India, though, ketoconazole is readily available. Voriconazole and posaconazole are newer azole drugs and of particular utility for invasive fungal infections.
