The derivation of syntax-semantics mismatches, to my knowledge, is caused by information structuring (c.f., Schwabe & Winkler, 2007 If a certain constituent is required by the information structuring to be positioned at a certain place, but the syntax does not directly provide such a syntactic position for it, then it has no choice but to take some round-about way to realize the requirement of the information structure (prosody may also takes effect in this process). A syntax-semantics mismatched structure may thus turn up.
