Climate change and environmental degradation are the pressing issues that require immediate action at the micro as well as the macro level. Modernization that includes digitalization, technical innovation, use of artificial intelligence, and machine learning all address the pertinent issues of resource depletion and environmental degradation to ensure that there is a paradigm shift toward a development that is resilient, green, and sustainable. The chapter is an attempt to address the contribution of artificial intelligence (AI) toward facilitating a paradigm shift toward ensuring a development that is resilient, green, and sustainable. The chapter further discusses proactive intervention and adaptive management strategies to achieve the same. The chapter provides an outline of the use of AI in promoting sustainable development, its growth, and trends over the years, along with providing a bibliometric analysis of the prominent authors, countries, institutions, and thematic evolution. Thus, the chapter contributes in understanding the role of AI in attaining the goals set in the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals. AI not only helps in the identification of sources of extreme carbon footprints but can also assist in the development of energy-efficient practices and waste management, thereby helping in reducing carbon footprints and promoting green development. This chapter will therefore be of significant relevance to policymakers, academicians, industry leaders, and institutions seeking to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of a green economy.
