Human-Centered AI Design Principles for Generative AI
摘要
Generative AI applications challenge existing human-computer interaction (HCI) paradigms because they shift the user’s role from one of command to one of specification. Designers need guidance on how to craft user experiences that help people work with these new applications in effective and safe ways. This chapter presents six principles for the design of generative AI applications. Each principle is coupled with a set of design strategies for implementing that principle via user experience (UX) capabilities or through the design process itself. The principles and strategies were developed and validated through an iterative process, including literature review, work with design practitioners, examinations of generative AI applications, and use within the design process of two generative AI applications. These principles address unique characteristics of generative AI UX and offer new interpretations and extensions of known issues in the design of AI applications using these challenging and powerful new technologies, facilitating the design of human-centered AI systems.
