To solve the problem of the lack of efficient machining methods for low-volume production of conical worm gears, this paper proposes a generation method of conical worm gear surface by linear cutter edge (LCE) with two degrees of freedom (2-DOF). A mathematical model of this method for conical worm gear is established, and the feasibility and correctness of this generation method are verified by theoretical error analysis and machining simulation.
