Education, Capacity Building, and Digital Skills for a Sustainable Society
摘要
By definition, sustainable education is a powerful tool for capacity building: it enhances human capabilities and skills, empowering individuals to become drivers for protecting the environment and creating a fairer world. It therefore plays an essential role in guiding the natural development of digital resources. Teaching sustainable development requires building capacities—the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes that allow individuals and communities to meet the challenges of a changing world and to exploit the opportunities offered by the twenty-first century context. Capacities should then enable learners to appreciate the need for change and to identify practical environmental, human rights, and development solutions. Capacity building can be defined as the process of developing and strengthening the skills, abilities, knowledge, and resources of individuals, organizations, and communities to enable them to support and sustain their welfare. Capacity building plays a crucial role in fostering environmental, social, and economic sustainability through education. It encompasses a wide range of activities, including skill development, training, mentoring, coaching, resource provisioning, relationship building, leadership development, organizational development, and community development. Education can also be a powerful mechanism for capacity building, especially when it adopts innovative methods such as project-based and collaborative learning. Digital skills are fundamental skills, abilities, and knowledge required to use or develop computer applications, software, and digital technologies (such as the Internet) for diverse purposes. Digital skills can be enhanced through education. An analysis of the role of technology in education highlights that society is placing increased emphasis on the integration of digital technologies in human development, training, and education. Information and communication technology (ICT) provides students with various tools that support the reception, handling, and communication of information and knowledge.
