Recent research has discovered that Withania somnifera plays a major role in health and nutritional aspects of humans as it has anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, cardioprotective, and sedative properties, like tranquilizers, as well as antioxidative effects on nervous system to cure neurological disorders such as dementia, obsessive compulsive disorder, cancer, and hypoglycemia. Ashwagandha has phytochemical compounds such as volatile oils, reducing sugars, and steroidal lactones, for example withaferin A, withanoside II, withanoside IV, withanoside D, and sitoindoside, which are present in their roots, which possesses pharmacological activities and helps in curing diseases through a natural method with minimum or no side effects. Ashwagandha also possesses secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, condensed tannins, and alkaloids, for example, isopelletierine, anaferine, cuscohygrine, and anahygrine. In this review article, we will identify the role of ashwagandha in curing stress, depression, neurological disorders, and post-Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) effects.

摘要
