Chapter 3 describes the study villages, and income status of the dairy farmers in two villages such as V1 and V2 of Mymensingh district, Bangladesh. In V1, modern dairy practices with crossbred cattle and support from Bangladesh Agricultural University and NGOs have enhanced women’s income, access to education, healthcare, mobile phones, sanitation, and electricity, particularly among middle-aged and experienced farmers. In contrast, women in V2, practicing traditional dairy farming, face challenges due to younger age, lower experience, and limited infrastructure. This chapter explores farmer demographics, village infrastructure, livestock management, and milk marketing channels, highlighting the interplay between technological adoption, institutional support, and socio-economic upliftment. Overall, the findings demonstrate that small-scale modern dairy farming serves as an effective means to strengthen rural women’s empowerment, enhance household well-being, and foster sustainable community development.
