A Secure IoT-Based Medicine Management System for Educational Institutes
摘要
An efficient and secure healthcare management system should be a top priority in all educational institutions to prevent the misuse of medicine and maintain records. Traditional methods are frequently carried out on paper which increases the possibility of making mistakes, unauthorized access and inaccurate information recording. To solve these problems, this article presents a secure IoT-based medicine management system specially designed for schools, colleges and hostel medical centers in the presence of healthcare workers. The system combines applications such as password-protected authentication, barcode scanning for identification and real-time transaction logging of patients to provide precise and monitored medicine dispensing. The procedure starts with powering on the system and then a certified healthcare worker such as a doctor or nurse enters a secure password using a keypad for authentication using the keypad. Once the password is verified, a USB barcode scanner will be activated to scan the student’s ID card. The correct medicine is selected by the healthcare worker and dispensed via a motorized mechanism upon pressing a push button. Each transaction, including the student’s ID number, timestamp, and medicine details, is automatically recorded in an Excel sheet. This alternative effectively addresses the weaknesses of existing systems since this proposed system is more secure, accurate, and accountable. In the proposed system, a Raspberry Pi serves as the master controller which ensures smooth and automated operation. Additionally, the real-time data updates can easily be monitored on an LCD. This IoT-based solution offers a flexible way to enhance healthcare in educational settings, but it depends on the availability of doctors. It enhances safety and efficiency while minimizing human errors and preventing medicine misuse.
