Smart Plant Irrigation and Monitoring System Using Arduino Uno and Bluetooth
摘要
In this paper, a system is proposed to automate the essential process of irrigation of plants through the use of Arduino Uno and send vital information about the climatic variables such as soil moisture, temperature, and humidity to the palms of plant owners by means of a Bluetooth-enabled mobile app. These parameters are measured with the help of corresponding sensors, and the system is optimized to carry out irrigation automatically based on the sensor values when it is required through a water pump and relay board. The advantage of this proposed method is that optimal watering of plants is ensured promoting plant health while at the same time water is conserved. This means that our system can be easily implemented in areas facing water scarcity, such as urban gardens. Another feature is the Bluetooth-based mobile app through which users can easily monitor their plant condition from afar and be informed of any climatic changes that might affect its well-being. The system was tested using loamy soil having 23% soil moisture initially. As this value was below the optimal threshold, the system automatically irrigated the soil and stopped once the moisture content had reached the acceptable value of 51%. This 28% increase in moisture demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed system in achieving its intended purpose.
