The hardware health monitoring parameter (health parameter, HP) on the nuclear power plant (NPP) instrument and control (I&C) board is an important and direct way to detect the health condition of the nuclear power I&C board, through which the diagnosis and warning of the instrument and control board can be realized. Due to the complexity of the board hardware design and the field environment, the design of health parameters is uncertain, so it is difficult to verify the designed health parameters of the NPP I&C board. The hardware parameter verification methods are introduced in categories firstly. Then, combined with the application potential in the verification of the hardware parameters of NPP I&C board, and based on the natural and authentic faults occurring in NPP, the health parameter verification strategy and implementation steps are provide based on the field fault analysis technology. Finally, combined with the historical fault information of a nuclear power plant, the health parameter design of the corresponding NPP I&C board is analyzed. The verification results are given and the effectiveness of the verification strategy are proved.
