Over the last few years, there has been rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The various advanced techniques in AI have opened newer horizons in this field. These advanced technologies include multimodal foundation models, retrieval-augmented generation, diffusion models, neuro-symbolic AI, self-supervised learning, causal AI and causal inference and transfer learning. It is necessary to be acquainted with these newer techniques to implement them in an AI model. The present chapter discusses the basic principles and applications of various advanced AI technologies.
