Educational Policies of Thailand Amid Political Upheaval: Creating Learner Persons, Innovation Co-Creators, and Active Citizens
摘要
Thailand after the military coup in 2006 and again in 2014, can be characterized by the political turmoil and increasing roles of young generations in addressing persistent problems in the country including education. At the time of the military government, Thailand announced the National Education Standards B.E. 2561 (A.D. 2019), which created a foundation for the development of Thai citizens who are learner persons, innovation co-creators, and active citizens. The current chapter sheds light on how Thailand will be able to respond to the national educational standards in this time of political uncertainties. Lessons learned from Thailand can be useful for educators interested in promoting lifelong learning, improving teacher quality, and international exposure, and enhancing the efficiency of the Ministry of Education’s performance.
