Poland and the Philippines
摘要
The Philippines and Poland are distant countries with little in common and no common interests. However, a closer look shows that one can find significant similarities and manifestations of cooperation between the two countries and substantial premises in favor of the thesis that collaboration between them will develop intensively. This chapter seeks to justify this thesis by holistically discussing the development of Polish-Philippine relations from 1945 to the present. The first part discusses the cultural and historical similarities and differences between the two countries, starting with the role of Catholicism and the experiences of martial law and democratization at the end of the twentieth century. The chapter goes on to examine diplomatic and political relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1973. The last part discusses economic and trade relations and FDI. In conclusion, the author assesses prospects for the future.
