This chapter aims to describe the diverse array of such viruses, offering comprehensive details of their clinical presentations, diagnostic challenges, and treatment options. Emphasis is placed on the unique characteristics of these viruses and the critical need for healthcare professionals to recognize and manage their often atypical presentations. Covered are DNA viruses from the families Poxviridae, Herpesviridae (beyond HSV and zoster viruses), and Papovaviridae, along with RNA viruses from the families Picornaviridae, Togaviridae, Paramyxoviridae, and Orthomyxoviridae. Additionally, it provides detailed insights into the ocular complications associated with each virus, ranging from severe conditions like smallpox-induced corneal perforation to less common manifestations such as Zika virus-associated conjunctivitis. Given the varied and sometimes severe ocular complications, treating clinicians should ensure early detection and tailored therapeutic approaches to prevent vision loss and other serious outcomes.
