Digital image forgery is the process of manipulating or fabricating image content to mislead viewers or misrepresent reality. With the proliferation of image-editing tools and generative AI, image forgeries have become increasingly sophisticated and prevalent. This chapter categorizes digital image forgeries into two major classes: manipulated real images, which involve alterations of real images, and computer-generated images, which are synthetic images created from scratch using a software. This chapter provides an in-depth overview of the primary types of digital image forgeries.
