Important Vitamins and Minerals for Infants, Toddlers, and Children
摘要
A healthy outside starts from the inside. Growth is a trait of childhood and a sensitive sign of a child’s nutritional health. Childhood is a time when the foundation is built for the full development of the body’s organs, functions, and senses and when a child blossoms physically, socially, and mentally. Therefore, nutritional intake is ideally essential in this phase, especially the quantity or portions of food required—“how much” and “when” more precisely. There are a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings about the nutrition that should be given to a child during infancy, toddlerhood, and childhood. Children who are taught healthier eating habits are less prone to serious health-related problems and live longer. Breastfeeding provides nutrition and is a lifesaver in infancy, but statistics show that about 80% of mothers start breastfeeding, of whom 60% stop at an early stage of infancy. This chapter focuses on the most essential vitamins and minerals that shall not be missed out in any case.
