Applied Behaviour Analysis: What It Is and What It Isn’t
摘要
Contrary to popular myths, ABA is not simply a specific therapy for children with autism. Applied behaviour analysis (ABA) is the applied branch of the natural science of behaviour analysis. As with any applied branch of a science, it harnesses the fundamental principles uncovered by the scientific investigation of phenomena, in this case behaviour, with a view to developing effective uses. Applications of behaviour analysis utilise environmental variables shown to reliably impact on behaviour with a view to address socially significant issues. In this chapter, we provide examples of how ABA can help learners achieve a better quality of life. Some of the most common misconceptions of ABA are also discussed.
