In this chapter, we review the interaction between atoms and light. First, we discuss multipole transitions, which are essential for controlling qubits. Next, we introduce atomic polarizability and the dipole potential, which are crucial for atom trapping. Finally, we formulate the dynamics of both the internal and external degrees of freedom of atoms under light irradiation.

摘要

In this chapter, we review the interaction between atoms and light. First, we discuss multipole transitions, which are essential for controlling qubits. Next, we introduce atomic polarizability and the dipole potential, which are crucial for atom trapping. Finally, we formulate the dynamics of both the internal and external degrees of freedom of atoms under light irradiation.
