Dialogue on Images: Curating Spaces Comprised of Images, Ideas, Affects, Texts, and Other Elements to Be Inhabited for Stalling and Venturing, Describing and Imagining, Analysing and Speculating, and Remaining the Same, Being Challenged and Changing
摘要
In this chapter we introduce dialogue on images as a method that involves curating spaces comprised of images, ideas, affects, texts, and other elements to be inhabited for stalling and venturing, describing and imagining, analysing and speculating, and remaining the same, being challenged and changing. And we argue this method can be used for creative adventures in education and human services. Dialogue may be familiar to people who work in these fields. For example, dialogue is a key pedagogy to promote learning. And dialogue is key to effective communication, engagement, exploration, problem solving, consciousness raising, and social action. In this chapter we build on the possibilities afforded by dialogue for creative purposes in education and human service work. We describe and demonstrate a dialogue about images by performing a dialogue about images about dialogue. We include curatorial (plateau like) notes. And we use the metaphor of ‘the gallery’ as the setting to do so. We report on what we learnt and the implications of these lessons for creativity in education and human services. We make the case that dialogue about images is a way to generate and inhabit spaces that afford opportunities for stalling, describing, analysing, speculating, venturing, and imagining.
