Improving Bioenergy Crops for Sustainable Future
摘要
Bioenergy is a promising sustainable source of energy produced from biomass and reduces the dependence on conventional fossil fuels. Bioenergy crops support the principles of sustainable agriculture by sequestering carbon, mitigating climate change, and producing valuable products such as biofuels. Despite the potential, there are challenges such as land utilization conflicts, environmental concerns, and limited biomass yields. To address these concerns, various improvement strategies are discussed, including genetic manipulation, improved breeding techniques, and sustainable agriculture practices. This chapter analyses bioenergy crops, including their classification (first generation, second generation, third generation crops) and challenges related to their cultivation and utilization. This chapter further highlights how bioenergy crops contribute to global energy security and sustainability.
