Optimization of Calculation Methods for the Production Yield of 99Mo in Research Reactor Irradiation
摘要
High-flux research reactors possess advantages such as high neutron flux and flexible operation. Producing isotopes through irradiation of specific targets in research reactors is an important method for obtaining isotopes. This paper focuses on the production process of 99Mo in research reactors. Based on the “eigenvalue calculation-coupling of burnup-criticality search” method, it analyzes the impact of the operational characteristics of research reactors on the yield calculation of 99Mo. By considering the rapid burnup of fuel and the changes in control rod positions during the operation of research reactors, the paper provides the changes in neutron flux during the irradiation process of 99Mo targets. It also analyzes the mechanism by which the dynamic changes in research reactors affect the production of 99Mo. An optimized method for calculating the yield of 99Mo is proposed. The research presented in this paper can provide more accurate yields of 99Mo, which has practical application value for the planning and arrangement of 99Mo production through irradiation in research reactors.
