Introduction
摘要
In the year 2015, the United Nations held its 70th General Assembly. As a part of this, the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit was also held in New York. One of the important outcomes of this summit was setting the development agenda for 2030, known as the Sustainable Development Goals. More than 150 world leaders came together and pledged to implement these goals in the next 15 years. As can be deemed obvious, out of the 17 sustainable goals that were announced, the first one was to end poverty. The goal was to eradicate extreme poverty from the world by 2030. Even though the threshold income limit to categorise someone as poor may vary from region to region, the International Poverty Line is considered a standard across the world. As of 2020, extreme poverty is defined by The World Bank as people living under US$1.90 per day. This amounts to approximately |152 as per the exchange rate of |80 per US dollar.
