Use of electromyography (EMG) adds another simple, non-invasive yet invaluable dimension to the utility of uroflowmetry and can also be used as an adjunct during invasive UDS. It allows assessment of state of sphincters and bladder neck opening during voiding. Use of dual-channel EMG (abdominal and perineal) may obviate the need for invasive UDS in several cases. This chapter deals with the practical aspects of using EMG and elucidates several relevant clinical case scenarios.
