摘要
Mental health is a growing concern in South Asia, affecting millions and posing a significant barrier to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This chapter explores public health initiatives aligned with the SDGs that aim to improve mental health outcomes in South Asia. Drawing on recent national strategies, policy frameworks, community-based interventions, and digital innovations, it highlights regional successes, persistent challenges, and future directions. Emphasis is placed on integrating mental health within primary health care, addressing stigma, enhancing workforce capacity, and strengthening governance. The chapter concludes with strategic recommendations for achieving mental health-related SDGs through a systems-oriented, multi-sectoral approach.
