Adopting new technologies to increase reactor thermal power while ensuring safety is an effective approach to enhance the economic performance of nuclear power plants during their service life. Through a systematic investigation and review of relevant practices in nuclear power plant power uprates, this paper comprehensively introduces the methods and characteristics of power uprates in nuclear power plants, and puts forward suggestions for carrying out power uprate related work in combination with the technical characteristics of nuclear power plants in China. Further more,the research and application of MUR power uprate for the AP1000 units is being conducted, which is expected to achieve a power increase of about 0.5%.The research of this paper can also provide an effective reference for promoting the power uprate of operating nuclear power plants and improving the comprehensive competitiveness of nuclear power.
