With the continuous advancement of the digital transformation of nuclear power and the construction of smart power plants, the application scenario of wireless communication technology in nuclear power plants has received more and more attention. However, there is no reference for the technical route and field maintenance application of wireless communication technology in radiation environment. To reduce the collective dose of maintenance personnel, a digital maintenance platform project based on wireless communication was developed. The technical route of the research and development project was described in detail, including project background, scheme design and field testing. During the implementation of the project, the wireless communication test within the nuclear island was carried out, and the test results showed that LoRa was suitable for wireless sensor network data acquisition, while WiFi in the 2.4GHz band had unique advantages in management data transmission. According to the field test results of the research and development project during the overhaul of the nuclear power plant, the wireless communication technology solves the difficulties of communication and quality management of the maintenance personnel, improves the maintenance efficiency, and effectively reduces the collective dose of the maintenance personnel in a high-radiation environment when the maintenance personnel wear gas masks.
