A heat flow meter apparatus has been indigenously realized for measurement of thermophysical properties of insulating material. The apparatus has been calibrated using IRMM-440A reference sample and the deviation of the thermal conductivity measured is + 1.5% with respect to reference data. Different samples have been tested using the apparatus and compared the results with that obtained using Guarded Hot Plate apparatus. The heat flow meter apparatus is modified for measurement of specific heat of material. The methodology of specific heat measurement using modified heat flow meter technique is demonstrated using Poly urethane modified iso-cyanurate (PUIR) foam. The measured specific heat of PUIR foam is compared with that obtained using hotwire method. The maximum deviation observed is 3.5%.
