This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of compactor waste trucks. It introduces the structure and principles, design, systems and components, technical standards and performance testing, as well as the selection of compactor waste trucks. Firstly, it introduces their functions and features, classifications, and development trends. Secondly, it details the structure and principles of compactor waste trucks. Thirdly, the design of compactor waste trucks is described in detail, including special performance parameters and mass parameters. Fourthly, the systems and components of compactor waste trucks are discussed. Tanks are typically constructed using a beam-plate structure. There are two types of compressive loading devices—sliding plate and rotary plate compressive devices. The loading device comprises the filler and the waste bin dumping device. The waste bin dumping device, most commonly used in rear-loaders, and two forms of pushing plates (poly-surface and curved surface) are also covered. In addition, the hydraulic and control systems are introduced. Fifthly, technical standards and performance tests are outlined, including appearance inspection, measurement of technical parameters, and various performance tests. These tests cover the loading device, unloading device, sealing performance between tank and filler, measurement of effective tank volume, measurement of filler wastewater tank volume, mass utilization coefficient, and inspections such as type approval, confirmation, and factory inspection. Sixthly, the chapter discusses selection principles for compactor waste trucks, focusing on feasibility, economy, and reliability. Finally, the main technical parameters of typical small, medium, and large compactor waste trucks are presented, providing a reference for practical selection and application.
