English-Language Creative Writing Pedagogy and International Exchanges: A Case Study of Sun Yat-sen University’s Creative Writing
摘要
This paper elaborates on the courses in the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral creative writing programmes in the Department of English at Sun Yat-sen University in terms of their teaching, research, and other related activities. It argues for the role of creative writing in English language pedagogy and international exchange: (1) English-language creative writing serves as a platform to showcase students’ achievements in English literature, linguistics, translation, and other disciplines; (2) since English-language creative writing is a form of translation without the original Chinese text, students can transfer their creative writing skills to the writing in their native language; (3) Chinese people telling Chinese stories in English is an irreplaceable perspective, and the development of English-language creative writing can lead to the building of a platform for world literature and cultural exchange.
